Summary of opportunity:

Our client is a leader in the video streaming industry.  We’re seeking for a battle-tested software engineer to join the Video Engineering team.  The incoming video engineer work with client-side software engineers, broadcast engineers, project managers, and technical architects to build and support live video and video playback workflows.

 

What we do:

• Use third-party and in-house tools, participate in efforts to design, build and support the live and linear pipeline for streaming video. We optimize video encoding, packaging, and delivery.
• We provide technology expertise for implementing smart solutions to help our video engineering teams deliver, support, and monitor live streams.
• From scratch, we use open-source solutions to build out highly automated monitoring, alerting and observability solutions.
• Work closely with the SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) team integrate solutions, define requirements, and automate deliverables. 
• Help the QA team coordinate and participate in testing new solutions and workflows.
• Manage cloud-based content delivery and services.

Ideal candidates will have:

• BS in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Expert level scripting skills in Bash, Python, Perl, PHP or Java.
• Strong front-end coding skills with JavaScript, Node.JS, GO, HTML or similar languages.
• Advanced experience skills/experience with AWS or other cloud architectures.
• Deep understanding of containerization, ideally/specifically with Kubernetes & Docker.
• We think, full Covid-19 vaccination might be required for this role.

Even more ideal if a candidate also has advanced levels of working knowledge with OTT (Over-the-top content) delivery of video content over the internet versus satellite or traditional cable, including:

• Networking principles, source origination, encoding & ingesting of video and encryption and DRM (Digital Rights Management)
• Deep understanding of OTT streaming protocols such as Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH), Common Media Application Format (CMAF), HTTP Live Streaming (HLS)
